A long and challenging day on the water—full of grit, waves, and great spirit.

Today, the team faced five hours of racing, completing three full races under hot, humid, and breezy conditions. The swell made things even tougher, with big waves rolling in from mixed directions as a typhoon approaches Japan. Our sailors showed great resilience and determination out there.
One standout moment came from Mat Dunne, a Kiwi parent traveling with our team. When an Australian sailor was struggling with a damaged Laser, Mat didn’t hesitate to jump in—fixing the boat on the water and even sailing it back to shore for the exhausted sailor. A true act of sportsmanship that captured the spirit of this regatta.

After racing, the team enjoyed a relaxed evening over dinner with our Australian friends and sailors from a Tokyo club—a great chance to unwind, share stories, and build friendships across borders.

Official results will be announced on the final day, but regardless of the scoreboard, today was a win for teamwork, courage, and friendship.
