Please take the time to read the NZIODA Event Code of Conduct prior to any Optimist event.
This event is an important championship for our North Island Optimist sailors which rotates around three active Optimist sailing regions in the central and lower half of the North Island. Currently these are Napier, New Plymouth, and Wellington. It is also part of the North Island traveller series; being sailed alongside a major regatta at the hosting club.
This season the event will be held at Napier Sailing Club in conjunction with their annual Summer Regatta over the weekend of 28th and 29th November, 2026.
All three racing fleets are invited to take part in this event. Our Green fleet will experience a variety of race types with individual races being celebrated, while our White and Open fleets both sail more traditional race courses, and are rewarded for their overall series score. It is important that all Optimists taking part in any sailing event are safe to go out on the water so please take the time to check over your boat NOW using the official NZIODA boat safety checklist and get it signed off by a club official so you are good to go for the season.
