Japan Friendship Regatta – Final Day – Team NZL

The final day of racing brought the tough conditions. Sailors spent another four hours on the water, completing three races. The wind built from 15 to 20 knots in the final race, with 1.5-meter confused swells.

Final Results:

Tim Stuart (MBSC) had a standout performance with 3rd (international), 18th (overall)

Eason Lan (RAYC) followed closely with 4th (international), 23rd (overall)

Elias pushed through with to 9th (international) , 43rd (overall)

At the closing ceremony, Mat Dunne was acknowledged for his rescue on Day 2 for an Australian sailor with a damaged ILCA. He took this opportunity to thank JJYU and Hamaya Sailing Club on behalf of the international teams.

Beyond the racing, this regatta was about friendship and connection. Our three NZL team families shared unforgettable moments and built friendships with families from Japan, Australia, and beyond.

As the event came to a close, sailors and parents alike waved goodbye with full hearts and promises to meet again.

Thank you to JJYU, Hayama Sailing Club, and all the teams involved for making this such a special experience.

Proud to be Team NZL.
