OWNZ Trust (Optimist Worlds New Zealand)

In 2010 a group of five (5) Optimist parents passionate about the class and its sailors got together, bid for, won and organised the 2011 Optimist  Worlds in Napier.

The regatta was a great success, both as an international event and financially. When the event was wrapped up they created a trust and put the residual funds from this event into it for the future benefit of the class. Though their children have now long moved out of Optimists they are still very proactive in supporting the class through their trust.

As a legacy, NZIODA’s charter boats are funded by this trust to assist sailors’ participation in the class. On application, boats are available for overseas sailors wishing to participate in NZIODA ranking regattas and to facilitate the ability of out-of-town sailors travelling long distances to attend national regattas and training camps with minimal cost.

You can book these boats for:

• Opti Team Cup, Lake Pupuke
• NZIODA North Island Opti Clinic, Eastern Beaches, Auckland
• Auckland Championships, Maraetai Sailing Club
• Girls Regatta, Kohimarama Yacht Club
• Natinal Championships (overseas sailors only), Worser Bay, Wellington
• NZIODA Team Clinics, Peter Snell Youth Village, Whangaparaoa

Please note the OWNZ Boats are not available to use in Nationals.

Registration   
This is on a 1^st come 1^st served basis, to register follow the link. Please note that you need to be registered with NZIODA in the year you wish to hire the OWNZ boat.

Cost                           
$60 per day  capped at $180 for the length of a regatta/event and $110 annual admin fee

Cancellation Fees & Refunds

If bookings are made after the close off date a one off $50 late booking admin fee will apply.

Damage Deposit        
$200.00 to be paid at the time of booking, this will be held by NZIODA for the season and returned at the end of the season. Please note that NZIODA will undertake a check at the end of each hire and will liaise directly with the parent if damage has occurred.

Charter Agreement
This needs to be filled in and signed and sent to nzoptimist@gmail.com this Charter Agreement will cover all hires that you undertake for the 2024/2025 season.

Process                      

1. E mail nzoptimist@gmail.com with the dates you are wanting to book
2. You will receive a notice acknowledging that the booking application has been received
3. Complete Charter Agreement and Damage Deposit Form (if not already done so for the season) and send it to nzoptimist@gmail.com
4. An invoice will be generated and sent to you for payment.
5. You will receive a confirmation email once payment has been received by NZIODA ie $60 per day plus $200 for the 1^st hire and $100 admin fee. If you hire 2 optimists you will need to pay a $400 boat damage deposit.  Please note that the deposit needs to be paid at the time of making your initial booking.
6. The Damage Deposit will be reimbursed at the end of the season.
7. Please note that your booking is not confirmed until payment has been made.

It is understood that any physical damage attributed to an OWNZ boat under hire by the named hirer, then the liability of repair lies with the hirer & NZIODA will pass the costs of repair to the hirer.
