Make sure that you put the 14th and 15th of March in your diary so that you don’t miss out on our fourth event in the North Island Traveller Series – the Bayleys Centreboard Regatta which is being hosted by the Lake Taupo Yacht Club.
Lake Sailing provides a whole new challenge, often providing shifty wind conditions and different wave states; a great way to prepare for the lake venue sailing that the NZIODA development teams experience at Australia’s Lake Macquarie event.
The other great thing about lake sailing is the fresh water, however the organisers would like to make you aware of the Biosecurity requirements in place on Lake Taupo as outlined in the NOR. While they acknowledge many sailors only sail on the sea, some of your gear, clothing, life vest etc, may have been used in freshwater bodies so this will trigger the need for you to undertake the appropriate measures prior to travelling to the lake. The same applies to support boats that are accompanying sailors.
