Registration is now open to our South Island sailors for registration to attend the NZIODA South Island Opti Clinic. Registrations are currently available for 30 sailors, so please hurry as spots do fill up fast.
This year’s clinic is hosted by the Queen Charlotte Yacht Club which has an outstanding reputation for hosting events, and a wide variety of sailing destinations and conditions. This is a great place to develop your love of sailing, make new sailing friends and hone your racing skills.
Once again the clinic this year is NON-residential and will be held in the week prior to Christmas, however this year we are pleased to announce that due to popular demand we are extending the clinic to FOUR days from Thursday 19th – Sunday 22nd December 2024, andit’s going to be fantastic!

Friday 22nd November – Registrations Close
All registrations received after this date will be at the discretion of NZIODA and will incur a late penalty fee of 30% of the registration cost. Unfortunately complementary clinic T shirts will not be able to be ordered after this date either.
What better way to start the festive season in style? Take the whole family! Beautiful sailing and race experience in Queen Charlotte Sound for your young sailor, and a beautiful pre Christmas holiday trip for the rest of the family.
This camp is suitable for Green, White and Open fleet sailors with the focus on improving your boat handling and racing skills while at the same time having fun and enjoying making new sailing friends. Top-class coaching will be provided by approved NZIODA coaches with the very experienced international coach Andrew Brown (Auckland) as Head Coach for the Open and White fleets and Kate Overend (QCYC) as Head coach for the Green Fleet.
The cost is $420 per sailor which is made possible by a very generous subsidy from the Optimist Worlds New Zealand (OWNZ) Trust. Sailors are required to be NZIODA members. Please note that there is a 30% non-refundable deposit if the sailor cancels up to 10 days prior to the clinic. Any refunds from cancellations received within 10 days of the clinic starting will be at NZIODA’s discretion.
