It’s a Wrap

The 2019 Asian and Oceanian Optimist Championships has finished on a high for Team NZ. Joe Leith finished 15th overall and 2nd Oceanian and Sean Kensington finished 27th missing out on 3rd Oceanian by 2 points. Alex Norman won the last race in silver fleet finishing 6th overall just in front of Fred Burrage in 7th overall. Charlotte Palmer finished 3 out of 4 of the silver fleet races in the top ten.

The day started early with a beach clean up. The amount of plastic shocked the sailors and everyone was pleased to have made a small difference.

The sailing followed a similar pattern to the rest of the regatta with blue skies and wind speed 7-10knots. Today however the wind direction was significantly further left and shifted throughout the day.

Overall the sailors have had a great regatta and experience. Goodbye Oman.
