NZIODA wish to advise it is currently continuing on track with all its activities as planned. We offer the following from IODA advising they will continue as planned with world events ( http://www.optiworld.org/default/news/new/text/notice-1-to-members-sams2020) however we suggest competing sailors to keep in touch with the world sailing website.
YNZ have just released the following. World Sailing recently put out an update which might be valuable to share with some of your membership, particularly those planning on heading overseas to compete. Please see the attachment at the end of this bulletin which contains advice on travel to certain areas and the risks associated at regattas.
High Performance Sport New Zealand have issued an update where they’ve outlined the tiers of risk, relevant countries affected and the difference between self-isolation and self-monitoring.
The NZ Ministry of Health have also put out advice for public events and they have plenty of useful information on their website
Yachting New Zealand also recommends that you keep up to date with the latest information.
NZIODA with Worser Bay Yacht Club are committed to the Nationals staying on track and would welcome overseas entries within the government regulations regarding the Coronavirus pandemic.
For NZIODA the only effect to date is the cancellation of the Qingdao Team from China. We have had advance notice from Sri Lanka to say they are still proceeding with the Asians which is later in the year.
There is a lot unfounded reaction to this dilemma driven by hearsay and the press, so we can only suggest working with the facts as advised from reputed sources here in NZ.
As this is still an unfolding situation NZIODA will endeavour to bring any relevant information to its Members soonest.
