The Yacht Club de Tahiti invites 5 keen Opti sailors to attend their Oceania Championship in May each year. This is a fun regatta that is suitable for intermediate Optimist sailors and often has entrants from Tahiti and New Caledonia as well as our New Zealand sailors.
Successful applicants will be responsible for their own flights, accommodation, planning and regatta organisation. A parent or guardian will need to accompany your sailor. NZIODA’s role is merely to connect you with the main contact in Tahiti so that you can then go on and arrange your trip accordingly to suit your family’s needs.

Resources
The registration fee for the event is 10,000 XPF and the host club will provide Optimists for up to five sailors. A RIB is also available for the group to charter between them to provide on-the-water support to sailors.
How to register your interest
Selection will be on a first come first served basis. As this opportunity is suitable for sailors who wish to experience a low-key regatta in an overseas environment it is recommended that sailors are in the mid-low end of the Open fleet or sail in the White fleet.
