Measurement at the 2026 Optimist Nationals – please read this important documentation regarding measurement at the upcoming Nationals in New Plymouth.

This event is the pinnacle of our Optimist calendar each year. It rotates around various yacht clubs throughout New Zealand and is usually held over the long Easter weekend. In 2026 it will be held at the New Plymouth Yacht Club from 3rd to the 7th April.

All fleets are invited to take part in this event. There is a variety of races for our Green Fleet with individual races being celebrated, while our White and Open fleets both sail a trapezoid course, as per IODA events all around the world, and are rewarded for their overall series score.
The first day of the event is for registration and checking that measurement and safety
paperwork is in order with sailing taking place on the subsequent four days.
