Day 2 of the North Island Clinic focused on a longer on-water training sail. The destination was Motuhie Island, located approximately 4 nautical miles away. We sailed upwind to the island, spending around four hours sailing in varying conditions, with the wind ranging from 5 to 15 knots. We launched at 10:00am under sunny skies, reached the island for lunch, and then sailed back downwind in the afternoon, when the weather turned rainy. We returned ashore around 5:30pm. After dinner, the day concluded with a technical talk focused on how to optimize sail settings and improve overall performance. There were some happy but tired kids at the end of the day!
