The ceremony brought together 51 delegations from across the globe, their colorful uniforms and flags painting the scene with international spirit.
This echoes the 1992 World Optimist Championship, which was also held at this very location.
A Celebration of Sailing and Camaraderie
The ceremony featured a parade of the delegations, accompanied by the traditional “Guardia Nacional del Mar” and the Navy band. A highlight was the traditional “Haka” performed by the New Zealand team, electrifying the crowd.
Welcome remarks were delivered by Mayor Dr. Guillermo Montenegro and Club Náutico Mar del Plata President Cr. Juan Agra. Their speeches expressed gratitude to the institutions, fellow clubs, sponsors, and volunteers who contributed to making this event possible.
