A new initiative from IODA for 2023 is the announcement that leading global Optimist dinghy events will now be included on the SSL (Star Sailor League) Ranking List! Our 2023 Worlds Team are already on the list. Check out our dedicated website page HERE.
This means our young Kiwi sailors can gauge how they are progressing against their NZ peers and young sailors from the rest of the world. Sailors also get a world ranking, and points accrued move with them as they make their way through their sailing career.
The SSL Rankings will also help showcase the huge range of opportunities, events and disciplines available for our young sailors as they move out of the Optimist class and look to pursue a career in sailing.
The SSL Ranking List is published weekly and includes more than 100,000 sailors from approximately 15,000 regattas around the world. For more info, head to: www.starsailors.com/ranking.
