Measurement Officials
NZIODA appoint a Chief Measurement Officer and his Measurement Team, who’s role is to answer any equipment questions you may have and ensure competitor equipment meets the Class rules.
All Optimist equipment such as Spars, Sails, and Foils are required to hold valid measurement certificates if a sailor is competing in the Open fleet. If you purchase new equipment or alter your equipment in any way (most common items are sail number changes) you can contact your closest Measurer to get a certificate for your equipment. Please do not leave this until the Nationals and expect a measurer to be available as this can be a very busy time for our key measurers. It is expected that a small fee will be paid directly to the measurer for their time as follows:
– Spars $10 each
– Sail $20
– Foils $20 each
A reminder that Optimist Hulls that are over 10 years old NO LONGER require a measurement booklet. This is usually for boats with sail numbers lower than NZL 4762.
