We are excited to announce our key coach line up for the North Island Clinic in January 2025. We are very lucky to have secured three incredibly experienced Optimist coaches from around the globe.
Firstly, our current Worlds coach Tiago Brito from Brazil. Tiago is an experienced international optimist coach and World Champion sailor who is now the head optimist coach at Murrays Bay Sailing Club.
Gauthier Thomas has recently become the Wakatere Head Coach after moving to New Zealand after previously being the French national coach at the optimist worlds. He has had some impressive success as a coach including coaching the 2021 female optimist world champion.
We are also very excited to introduce Peter McCann from Ireland. Peter is a professional coach with a wealth of international experience. Most recently he was a coach for the Australian Optimist Sailing Team based in Melbourne. As a sailor he has 8 national titles to his name and multiple medals at major European regattas.
With so many of our keen Opti sailors involved in the SailGP Inspire feva programme in January we have decided to alter the dates of the clinic slightly to allow everyone to take part. With this in mind we are offering 3 different options.
OPTION 1:
4 days of sailing and a live in clinic – Cost $620.00
Start time 9.00 am on Monday 13th Jan and finishing on Thursday 16th Jan at 4 pm.
OPTION 2:
3 days of sailing and a live in clinic – Cost $500.00
Start time 9.00 am on Monday 13th Jan and finishing on Wednesday 15th Jan at 4 pm.
OPTION 3:
3 days of sailing and a live in clinic – Cost $500.00
Start time 9.00 am on Tuesday 14th Jan and finishing on Thursday 16th Jan at 4 pm.
The overall cost includes a 30% non-refundable deposit if the sailor cancels up to 10 days prior to the clinic. Any refunds for cancellations received within 10 days of the clinic starting will be at NZIODA’s discretion.
The closing date for registrations is now Friday November 29th, 2024. Any entries received after this date will be at the discretion of NZIODA and will incur a LATE PENALTY FEE OF 30% of the registration costs. Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide our complementary clinic T-shirt to those who register after this date.
Great coaching, competitive racing, fun activities and evening entertainment is guaranteed at the fully-supervised Willow Park Camp, Eastern Beach, Auckland. With the end of the school year and Christmas fast approaching, your calendar is filling up fast, and we don’t want you to miss out. Registration takes just a few minutes.
The clinic is run by NZIODA in association with the Kohimarama Yacht Club and is open to all sailors from Green, White and Open fleet. For more information check out our webpage.
