Registration is now open to attend the annual NZIODA South Island Opti Clinic in Lyttelton Harbour, Canterbury.
This year’s clinic is hosted by the Charteris Bay Yacht Club in conjunction with the Naval Point Club and is based in Lyttelton. Lyttelton Harbour boasts great summer sailing with excellent summer sea breezes and a variety of sailing destinations and conditions. This is a great place to develop your love of sailing, make new sailing friends and hone your racing skills.
This clinic is NON-residential and will be held during the summer school holidays in 2026 from Sunday 18th to Wednesday 21st January. The switch to a January date allows sailors to take full advantage of great summer weather and is timed to allow a strong build up to other Optimist regattas and events including the Oborn’s Nautical South Island Traveller Series.
This clinic is suitable for Green, White and Open fleet sailors with the focus on improving your boat handling and racing skills while at the same time having fun and enjoying making new sailing friends. Top-class coaching will be provided by approved NZIODA coaches from around the country.
The cost is $420 per sailor which is made possible by a very generous subsidy from the Optimist Worlds New Zealand (OWNZ) Trust.

Please note that there is a 30% non-refundable deposit if the sailor cancels up to 10 days prior to the clinic. Any refunds from cancellations received within 10 days of the clinic starting will be at NZIODA’s discretion.
