Day 3 of the North Island Clinic began with a fun fitness session, including relay races and multi-sport games to get the sailors moving before heading on the water. The focus for the day was starting technique, with conditions providing a great challenge for both the Green Fleet and Open Fleet. The morning saw winds of 10–12 knots, building to 12–15 knots and choppy conditions in the afternoon. The Green Fleet stepped up with confident, well-executed starts, while the Open Fleet continued to refine and sharpen their already strong starting skills under pressure.
Between sessions, the sailors were well looked after by the incredibly organised Willow Park Camp, enjoying a great lunch that kept everyone fuelled and ready for the afternoon. Conditions were changeable with periods of rain, adding an extra learning element to the day. A huge thank you to the parents, who were a massive help both on the water and on shore, supporting safety, launches, and recoveries throughout the day.
The day finished with some very wet and hungry sailors, but also a strong sense of achievement. The coaches are extremely proud of the effort and improvement shown over the past three days, and the clinic will wrap up tomorrow with team racing and further fleet racing to finish on a high.
