Friday 15 September is the day South Island sailors can register for the NZIODA South Island Opti Clinic. Registrations are open currently for 30 places, so please hurry as spots do fill up fast.
This year’s clinic is hosted by the Nelson Yacht Club which provides a variety of sailing conditions from the sheltered waters inside the Nelson Harbour to the expansive Tasman Bay out past the breakwater to take full advantage of the fantastic sea breezes of the bay. This is a great place to develop sailing and racing skills and will be a good chance for sailors to experience the venue ahead of the Optimist South Island Championship that will be held in Nelson in January.
Once again the clinic this year is NON-residential and will be held in the week prior to Christmas from Sunday 17 – Tuesday 19 December 2023, and it’s going to be fantastic!

All registrations received after this date will be at the discretion of NZIODA and will incur a late penalty fee of 30% of the registration cost. Complementary clinic T shirts will not be able to be ordered after this date. So get in quick!!

This camp is suitable for Green, White and Open fleet sailors and the focus is on having fun and making friends, with top-class coaching from approved NZIODA coaches with the very experienced Kim Buchanan (CBYC) as Head Coach for the Open and White fleets and Kate Overend (QCYC) as Head coach for the Green Fleet.
The cost is $330 per sailor which includes a very generous subsidy from the Optimist Worlds New Zealand (OWNZ) Trust. Sailors are required to be NZIODA members.
Please note that there is a 30% non-refundable deposit if the sailor cancels up to 10 days prior to the clinic. Any refunds from cancellations received within 10 days of the clinic starting will be at NZIODA’s discretion.
