Expressions of interest are now being taken from North Island Clubs with an active Optimist fleet to hold the National Optimist Champs in 2025, 2026 and 2027.
This event is currently scheduled to be held at Easter each year with a day for registration and 4 days for racing.
Three fleets are involved;
- Open fleet (up to approximately 150 sailors);
- White Fleet (up to approximately 50 sailors, and
- Green Fleet (up to approximately 70 sailors)
Racing is held over 2 courses with the Open and White fleets sailing on the same course. Contact NZIODA at nzoptimist@gmail.com for more details and guidelines on host requirements.
Once we have heard from all interested clubs the committee will discuss options and get back to you in July.
Please discuss this with your club committee and then complete this form by 30 June if you are interested. Please note that if you are an Auckland club a similar expression of interest form will be coming out for clubs who are interested in hosting the Auckland Optimist Championships in the next couple of weeks, so keep an eye out for this as well.
