Due to the ongoing COVID 19 Pandemic the NZIODA Committee can confirm that the Toyota Optimist National Championship for 2021 will run at a LEVEL 1 ONLY in accordance with New Zealand Government requirements.
The NZIODA Committee are aware of the uncertainty that this may cause for sailors and their families. However, the safety of our sailors and their families is our priority.
How will this affect my Sailors ranking?
Scenario 1
If the Toyota Optimist National Championship takes place then the Interislander Regatta (this was cancelled due to COVID 19) will be classified as the dropped regatta.
Scenario 2
If we remain at Level 2 in Auckland and there is no Toyota Optimist National Championship 2021 then the rankings for the 2020-2021 season will be based on current rankings to date ie those rankings after Auckland Championships 2021.
Will there be Nationals in 2021?
If, because of the COVID Level at Easter the Toyota Optimist National Championship is not sailed at Easter the NZIODA Committee will be working with the various stakeholders to the feasibility of running this event later in the year. Once we receive further guidance then we will communicate this to our membership.
