Wild and Windy Spring Clinic 2020

Worser Bay certainly lived up to its reputation last weekend when it hosted its annual Spring Clinic.  All three days brought strong Northerly winds and exhilarating sailing. While the Green fleet spent most of their time in the relatively sheltered area of the bay, both White and Open fleets ventured out into the big stuff and many came off the water reporting that it was the best place to sail ever!!!

The Clinic drew 38 sailors from as far north as Auckland and as far south as Christchurch. It was great to see a lot of relatively new local sailors also take up the opportunity to hone their skills. Many were pleased to have the opportunity to practice on the waters where they will be sailing this coming weekend in the 2020 Toyota Optimist Nationals.

A big thank you to the wonderful and highly experienced coaches for their expertise, and for putting together this exciting video that captures the thrills of the weekend.

Thank you also to the fantastic team of volunteers at Worser Bay for putting on such a successful event, and for all your work ahead of this weekend’s Nationals event.

And all the best to the sailors heading to Worser Bay this week.  This year’s Toyota Optimist Nationals is shaping up to be one of the highlights of a most challenging year.
