2020 MBSC ICEBREAKER

Saturday 19th September 2020

COVID-19 MANAGEMENT PLAN

WILL THE ICEBREAKER RUN AT LEVEL 2

Yes, but there will be restrictions on participation…

ENTRY AND REGISTRATION

Please enter by completing the on-line entry form at www.murraysbay.org. Early entries would be helpful for planning (in particular for determining designated rigging areas and staggered start times) but must be received prior to 1800 on Friday 18th September. Payment of the entry fee is not required when entering.

Registration will be held 0900 to 1100 Saturday 19th September at Murrays Bay Sailing Club. Entry fees are payable at registration by contactless EFTPPOS only.

SICKNESS/SYMPTOMS

If you have any cold or flu-like symptoms or feel ill in any way do not come to the Club. Do not enter the club if you have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 symptoms or had any COVID-19 symptoms.

CONTACT TRACING

Contact Tracing is a vital tool in fighting this virus and is a requirement for the club to keep accurate records of who has been on the premises and when. It is MANDATORY for all sailors and visitors to the Club to record their visit using the NZ COVID Tracer App. NZ COVID Tracer QR code posters will be on display at the entrance to the club. If you do not have the NZ COVID Tracer App you must fill out the MBSC Contact Tracing Form to register everyone in your group. This must be done on arrival AND departure.

HYGIENE

Please wash/sanitise your hands on arrival at the Club and when using any Club facilities at the sanitising stations provided. High use areas such as bathrooms and equipment will be spray disinfected regularly.

MASKS

It is STRONGLY recommended that a mask or face covering is worn in closed spaces and where physical distancing is not always possible.

PHYSICAL DISTANCING AND CREWED BOATS

Please maintain a distance of 2 metres from others you don’t know and 1 metre from those you do. Closer contact is permitted where it is not practicable for the normal distancing rules to be followed (e.g. in crewed boats).

RIGGING AREAS

Competitors will be allocated to groups of no more than 10 people. Designated rigging areas for each group will be advised in the supplementary sailing instructions and/or the MBSC website. Please maintain 2m physical distancing between groups. Once rigged, please move yachts onto the beach to minimise congestion in the rigging areas. High tide is at 0834 so there will be plenty of room on the beach to maintain 2m physical distancing between yachts and competitors. Please leave room in front of the boat ramp for other yachts and support boats to access the beach.

THE CUBHOUSE

The entire Clubhouse is closed to all members except for residents and those rostered on Results, Tower or Duty Officer roles. The Galley is closed. The downstairs bathrooms/changing rooms may be used but the maximum number in the bathrooms at any one time is limited to three so we encourage sailors to change at home. Because of the water restrictions and limits on bathroom users showers should be used sparingly.

Access to the bunker is restricted to rostered crew members only or for sailors for access to their boats. Only the rostered tractor driver may operate the tractor.

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

Supplementary sailing instructions will be available after 1900 on Friday 18th September at www.murraysbay.org. Printed copies of the sailing instructions will not be made available to competitors.

BRIEFING

There will be no briefing.

STAGGERED START TIMES

To minimise the number of people at the Club at any one time there will be staggered starts for classes to be advised in the supplementary sailing instructions.

RESULTS AND PRIZEGIVING

Results will be posted online on the MBSC website only. There will be no prizegiving.

WATER RESTRICTIONS

Because of the water restrictions in place in Auckland no washing of boats is permitted. Rhib motors are to be flushed using the water drum.
